Barry Bennett

Barry grew up in Mountain. Home, AR. He spent his time wrestling and listening to OZZY. His mother, Helen, heard various states of rock and or roll coming from her garage for many years, and never complained at the lack of Floyd Cramer songs.

Since coming to Chicagoland in 1993, Barry has had his theatre and dance scores heard as far away as Salzburg and as near as the seat in which you are sitting. This group of folks would include 16th Street Theater (resident artist),Chicago Dramatists (associate artist), The Aardvark, Steppenwolf, The Art Institute, Emerald City, National Pastime, Cindy Brandle Dance Company, PROP THTR, Chicago Moving Company (composer in residence), Estrogen Fest, Writers’ Theatre, Asimina Chremos, NEXT Dance, Heartz & Bonies, Flush Puppy, Blackbird, Terrapin Theatre, and others.

By day Barry is a modern dance accompanist. He has been Composer in Residence for the Chicago Moving Company since 2000; for whom he has created music for numerous out reach programs. He was the founder of the iconic art rock ensemble, MiLkBabY , which released 5 albums between 1997 and 2008 and they are available on Uvulittle Records.

Barry's first solo record, "DEATH TO DEATH!! and other tales of uneasy harmony", has a official release date of November 16th on Uvulittle Records.

Barry brings the tribal/ambient/space/punk to you solo style or as a group, along with Edward Reardon and Toru Hironaka as... DOCTOR BONOBO. He can also be heard beating the drum kit for various groups in Chicagoland...

Barry now makes his home Berwyn with his wife, theatre director Ann Filmer, and their daughter Hannah. Barry has no interest in Adulthood.
