Music in the time of COVID

Hello all

I hope you're faring well.

I just thought to write an update on my musical life, because I'm thinking about it.

You may or may not know that I got discouraged about playing solo for a couple years, and effectively quit doing that. Since I didn't play a ton to begin with, and part of my discouragement was in the fact that people often didn't seem to notice when I WAS playing, my little sadsacky hiatus kinda stayed under the radar.

Well, I'm glad to report I finally got over myself and decided to start playing again. Started with Sean Michael Dargan's Rock n Roll Supper Club in Feb, continued with a set on the gorgeous grand piano at Hanah Jon Taylor's Cafe CODA, celebrating and supporting WORT 89.9fm. And was just finding someone to help me with music booking, through our Mutual Aid Network.

Now that will be different.

And Ladyscissors (the band I play drums in) and Negative Example (Bucky Pope's band where I play Wurlitzer) won't be able to practice or play shows for awhile.

So in the meantime, I'm hoping to offer some web concerts, maybe some online practices, some variety shows or open mics. Let me know if you're interested.

And I've been ramping up even more my Mutual Aid Networks work, because we need to do everything possible to mitigate suffering now and then show a beautiful new path. No more business as usual, let's dream our new world and begin it now, while we very literally have Nothing Better To Do.

Lots of love,
Stephanie

ps Please feel free to support me during this time, and anytime, because there's really no money in singing your heart, at least not for me, and it's really beyond time to get it out of that capitalist framework - the main source of my aforetmentioned discouragment (and all other kinds of destruction)
